Laughter REALLY IS the Best Medicine

Today the scientific world confirmed what I feel like I have known all along, laughter every day keeps the doctor away (or more specifically lowers your blood pressure and decreases bad levels of cholesterol). TAKE THAT APPLES (or in the word's of one of the best scenes in one of the best movies... how bout THEM apples?).

Upon reading this story, I felt like someone had confirmed my life motto, or said to me something like "Yes, that's right, laughing isn't just fantastic... it is also good for you"!! In fact, even though this study was done with a really small sample size (dear science nerds, please repeat --to further prove these great results-- this on more peeps. K THANKS), the best thing I learned was: "the body’s response to repetitive laughter is similar to the effect of repetitive exercise". Being someone who struggles with weight and making myself exercise (as a former swimmer who really just hateeeeeees running...maybe because it was always used on top of an already hard swim practice and often felt like punishment), knowing that laughing is actually helping me to achieve my weight loss goals is pretty much amazing and makes me feel a little better about my TV problem (Ok so I might still wish that in the future a doctor would prescribe me watching comedy central or 4 hours of romantic comedies to lose weight...but, hey, a girl can dream). True, I have started making myself work out two times a day (shocker, I know), but knowing that I get an added benefit from watching modern family, 30 rock, or Chelsea Lately (I wonder if it doubles if you watch these and laugh WHILE exercising)...can only be described with one word...FANTASTIC.

Oh, and here are a couple of things to start your day off healthy:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6--ce2OEcI&feature=related: I could not find a clip of it, but my favorite part of this episode is actually the escalator scene where Claire is ONLY wearing a trench coat and on the way back to their hotel room, her jacket gets stuck in the escalator (and they run into everyone they know, including their kids' teachers)...It is pretty much amazing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gor8v8CRZa8&feature=channel : Is it bad that I want to go here?! I would feel tall (for once)...and could pretend I was in munchkin land (WE REPRESENT THE LOLLIPOP GUILD). I hope me saying this does not end with me being stalked by little people like I was last time...
