Like my new favorite go-to person for "one-liners you do not expect", Brittany from Glee, today my boss was actually really funny (well, make that two slingers in a row for her...as she is slowly helping me to gain momentum in my "I will survive" this job meter). OK, so her answer was in no way as fantastic as Brittany's "did you know that dolphins are just gay sharks", but, it was hilarious, mostly because it was just SO unexpected. To fully grasp its' amazingness, picture this coming out of a mid-fifty (ish??) year old woman with gray hair...hard at work on a grant proposal due tomorrow (and yes, I feel like Sophia in Golden Girls when I use the phrase "Picture This" and that makes me smile. BIG.). This is how it went down:
Me: Here is what you asked for, do you need me to do anything else?
Nice Boss: Yes... Can you just SHOOT ME??
Me: Umm, that's...sad....are you ok?! (Seriously, I was visibly cracking up, and did not really know how to "appropriately respond". Hopefully my jaw dropping in utter surprise was enough.)
Basically, for the second time this week, nice boss managed to...make my day.
