T. Swizzle

Because I spent my Saturday night basking in the glow that is Taylor Swift (and being drenched in the beer being consumed by the 15 year olds behind me), I decided to, with visuals, explain to you why she is, in fact, completely awesome, and why, if possible, I am now a bigger fan. First of all, let me point out that I saw her open for Rascal Flatts a few years ago and back then I was not even remotely impressed by her live performance skills. Now, however, she is MUCH better and has become a fantastically more successful/powerful entertainer. I am guessing that all those fans and awards (suck on that Kayne) helped to boost her performance ego, and to be honest, I may or may not have, in the words of the one and only Janis Ian from Mean Girls, "a HUGE LESBIAN CRUSH ON HER...Ay yi yi yi" (Side note, sadly there are no easily found clips of this on youtube. WTF people).

In my opinion, these are the reasons T Swift Rocks (and because my brain ramblings are not ordered...neither is this list):
1. She has a signature move. Before the concert, I told my friend that Taylor LOVES to rock out with her hair. As he had never analyzed her dance moves before, he was somewhat skeptical, but the concert was all about the rocker head bob. I think that like how some celebrities insure their signature body parts for millions (a popular choice is legs, a la David Beckham or Heidi Klum)...she may soon need to insure her hair....because man, she loves it. Or, she could pull a Jennifer Aniston, cut it all off, and invent "The Taylor".
2. She is a vindictive ex-girlfriend and she owns it. Literally every song she sings is about someone real (even if it is a nice song) and the concert has sort of an underlying theme of "seriously do not EFF with me or I will write a song about you." This fact only made my friend and I more excited for her new CD...hopefully with references to a certain Twilight-er. But seriously, I do not understand why any one would cheat on her, and, in fact, I know a certain guy friend, or 14, that DEFINITELY would not. Or she could also just grant this guy's Christmas wish...
3. She loves her mom. The video for Best Day may or may not have made me cry (I told you my crying is out of control lately), but at least I put my emotions to good use and sent it to my mom for Mother's Day. I think you should send it to your mom just because...
4. She can actually sing. Though my friend and I wished she did more covers (like Jennifer Nettles), I settled for her rendition of this Justin song and the way it was incorporated into You're not Sorry. This song was definitely one of my favorite's of the concert.
5. She's a good girl (and even if you try to convince me that she is actually dating John Mayer--the equivalent of a guy not dated by a good girl--I will still say this) and a good role model. The concert, including the alcohol distribution, was kid-friendly.
6. You can sing/scream/belt out virtually all of her songs....and EVERYONE there knew EVERY word. Sometimes the concert was like Taylor karaoke with thousands of fans.
7. She is actually pretty funny. Even though SNL is lame now, her monologue was hilarious and got stuck in my head, and so was/did her song with T PAIN.
8. She plays on shiny guitars. To those of you who know my Carrie Underwood obsession and my love of her sparkly microphones, this guitar only makes Taylor THAT much cooler.

9. She is a great song writer, too. Depending on what you are going through (the song Breathe particularly falls into this category of songs), the words she writes...really resonate. OK so sometimes these words are accompanied by bubble gum poppy melodies...but one time, sit and read them like a poem and you'll get it.
10. I sort of want to be her friend, and may or may not have created a Twitter account right before her concert to try to get backstage (I believe the message went something like "I am going to medical school soon but you are cooler."). I will blame that decision on the country music power hour be thankful that I do not actually understand how to use Twitter.

Obviously, the concert was an amazing time and only made me love T. Swift more. I am so incredibly glad that I went, and am even still pondering seeing the concert when it comes to DC (if I can find tickets since she sells out in like 10 minutes).

Oh, and speaking of good talented musicians, watch Ben Folds improv about Chatroulette, while on Chatroulette, at a concert...It is pretty amazing. Have any of you gone on Chatroulette? Did you like it??! I was told by a friend that it is funny, but best used when intoxicated. She said that alcohol may help with the fact that there are, as she pointed out, "a lot of penises" (that is the medical term for "people are nasty").
