This afternoon while taking a break from movie watching, I put on the CMT top 20 countdown (I love country music. Deal with it). While I was watching Carrie and Miranda rock it out, I realized that the new host looked familiar. I started thinking to myself, "Man, that guy is good looking, but WHERE did I see him before?!" I quickly googled (amen for the Internet), "Who is the new host for the CMT top 20 countdown" and the result was... ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. His name is Evan Farmer, but you, and I, more likely remember him as Jerry O'Keefe from the band 2get+er on MTV. Did I mention that he was the "heartthrob" of the group, you know the Nick Carter or the Justin Timberlake?? To middle school me, this band was only the BEST boy band EVER (I was one of those anti-boy band types who loved the humor in this fake band and was obsessed with their sarcastic lyrics). Today, I admit, he is still pretty damn good looking, and sort of reminds me of Rob Lowe (which is probably why he played the young version of him in Austin Powers). The things I learn from Wikipedia.

After getting excited and realizing that I know the lyrics to the entire 2get+er CD (yes I will shamelessly admit that), I have now decided to take you all on a trip down memory lane, a blast from the past of sorts, back to middle school with me. We will reminisce with the help of my two favorite 2get+er music videos. Just don't go blaming me if this makes you want to go to a dance, stand on one side with all the girls/or boys (depending on your sex), and feel cool knowing the lyrics to the Macarena (Now come on, what was I supposed to do, he was out of town and his two friends...were so....fine):
1. Calculus: because U+Me= US.
2. The hardest part of breaking up: "You got my sweaters, my hat, I can't find my cat, the hardest part of breaking up...is getting back your STUFF"
These songs/lyrics/videos are almost like time capsules of the 90s in all their fantastic glory. Just for the hell of it, I am now going to look for some Boy Meets World repeats on TV, listen to Bitch by Meredith Brooks, find a pair of overalls, and will venture back into obsessing over Leonardo DiCaprio. Oh, middle school memories.

OH MY GOD Bitch by Meredith Brooks is like one of my most favorite bad ass angry chick rock star songs ever... it's on my badass girl playlist (awesome playlist that includes only female artists) Love that you mentioned that!
ReplyDeletehahaha what else is on this playlist?? Maybe it will make for a nice power hour mix :)
