Cabin Fever

While spending the evening reading facebook status updates of my friends still in college and getting invited to snow day events at the college bar, I came to the quick realization that snow days in college are MUCH better than snow days in the real world. Not only am I working for one of the few places that tells us to "work from home" (even if I am not that productive anymore), but I am also not spending the whole day going to a bar, having huge snow ball fights, or even making a snowman. I feel like the entire "organize large group events" spirit, even if you have enough friends, sort of goes away real world and so does the desire for day drinking. While they are probably wishing they never have to go back to school, I am actually hoping for it to just stop so that I can get back on a normal schedule (Friday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday of "working from home" is just too much). I am going crazy by accident (cabin fever perhaps?), and they are going crazy by choice (or under the influence of alcohol). Seeing their excitement and then thinking about my days at home, one thing is for sure: I FEEL LAME.

Let's see, what have I done in the past week.....exercise...check....attempt to have some food in my apartment...check...watch virtually everything on my DVR (including the movies)...check...attempt to record all of the good movies on Turner Classic Movies (I mean come on its the Oscar weeks)...check... bond with my dog...check...and take extra and excessive naps...that is a huge check. Sounds like a thrilling life...doesn't it?! The only funny things I have witnessed, if you can even call them funny, are this huge semi stalling on the road outside my building (shows how good DC is at plowing)

and my dog attempting to lift his leg and pee while the wind blew him over. Each time he lifted, he fell over into the snow. I admit, I felt bad for him, but it was quite hilarious and I could not help but laugh. Anyway, he got back at me for it by getting nervous sick again all over the apartment. This Karma thing is OUT OF CONTROL and I might have to stop laughing at other people/animal's misfortunes someday soon.

Ultimately, DC has turned into one of the worst places to have chosen to live in the country. I came here for more "mild" weather, and SURPRISE it is the WORST WINTER EVER. People keep telling me that it is global warming (which might I add, sort of confuses me now in the whole Greenland Iceland way... like if its going to get colder USE THE WORD COOLING), but whatever the reason for this weather, I am SO over it. Plow the roads and metro lines and make this winter wonderland more livable already. It is hard to believe that I would have been better moving to Boston...
